Budget to cut funding for stem cell research

Harper, in his stimulus budget, has decided that scientific jobs don't really count. Why else would he cut over $100 million from the budget of Genome Canada and put 1000's out of work.

Here is the article:

Is it just coincidence that Genome Canada funds stem cell research? I am sure Harper will be getting a call from his old buddy George Bush, Yo Harper, good job on the stem cell stuff. Go Neo-Cons.

Above and beyond the motives for the cuts, is the fact that this could send some of our best and brightest minds away. Scientists need research funding, they go where it is. Harper has sent the message to the Scientific research community, no work for you.

  1. If only Iggy stopped this by voting against the government.
Maybe restoring funding for this should be a requirement for Harper's probation.

  2. Steve, It won't happen. Cons are completely against stem cell research - rigidly so. They are so-called "born again" Christians. Harper big time. Wouldn't know it would you? Ain't gonna happen.

  3. Gosh, it's such a shame and so typical of this government. Now, if only there were a way to stop them ...
